The annual compliance report now runs on financial years: first Tranche 2 period is 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027

Every reporting entity lodges an annual compliance report, a questionnaire on how it met its obligations. AUSTRAC's guidance, updated on 1 April 2026, moves the reporting period to the financial year. The next period is 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

The new timetable

  • Reporting period: 1 July to 30 June.
  • Lodgement window: within three months of the period ending, so 1 July to 30 September.
  • First period for Tranche 2 firms: 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027, report due by 30 September 2027.

What it means in practice

Keep the running numbers the report asks for on a financial-year basis: clients onboarded and their risk ratings, reviews done, reports lodged, training sessions and program versions. Make sure the compliance officer's email and your primary contact in AUSTRAC Online are current: that is where the reminders go. Lodging late can attract a remedial direction or an infringement notice.

Questions people ask

Do I lodge anything for July to December 2026 separately?
No. The first report covers the full 2026–27 financial year and is lodged between 1 July and 30 September 2027.
